ABOUT MARTINA

Martina is a communications and editorial professional focused on refining complex information into clear, audience-centered communication grounded in lived experience and public understanding.
Her background spans journalism, communications, public engagement, and editorial work, with experience covering issues related to housing insecurity, food access, and community well-being. While writing for the Fredericksburg Free Press, Martina interviewed community members, local organizations, and individuals experiencing hardship across the Downtown Fredericksburg region, deepening her understanding of vulnerability, public need, and the importance of thoughtful, people-centered communication.
Martina also brings experience in communications, media production, and public storytelling through her work with the University of Mary Washington, where she supported video production, digital communications, and interview-based storytelling across university platforms.
Her broader leadership experience includes serving in Student Government Association leadership, where she created the Preventing Period Poverty Initiative to improve access to menstrual products for students through policy advocacy and student engagement efforts.
She holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Philosophy (Pre-Law Track) and Communications & Digital Studies, with a minor in Journalism, from the University of Mary Washington.

At Governance & Evidence Review, Martina serves as Policy Editorial Lead, supporting editorial refinement, readability, publication structure, and public-facing accessibility across G&ER’s governance and policy analysis initiatives.
